The ideal candidate has substantial hands-on Android platform experience, understands chipset and driver dependencies, and can confidently collaborate with international device manufacturers.
Important
Full-time opportunity in Poland, available under UoP or B2B arrangements.
UoP: Three office days per week in Warsaw, Katowice or Wrocław.
B2B: Flexible location with periodic visits to the Warsaw laboratory.
At least five years of hands-on Android platform or kernel-level engineering experience.
Embedded device experience involving CPE or STB platforms.
Practical experience reading or modifying Android framework, HAL, kernel or driver code.
Strong device-level debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
Experience using ADB, logcat, dumpsys and Linux diagnostic tools.
Knowledge of chipsets, drivers and device firmware dependencies.
Polish proficiency of at least B2 and English proficiency at C1/C2.
This is a hands-on device engineering role, not a traditional network administration or pure QA position.
Job description
We are looking for an Android Platform Engineer (CPE / STB) to improve the performance, reliability and technical quality of next-generation home connectivity devices and TV set-top boxes for a major telecommunications operator in Poland.
This is a hands-on embedded Android engineering opportunity focused on device-level WiFi debugging, platform architecture, chipset and driver analysis, and technical collaboration with international hardware vendors.
You will work alongside an established team of home device engineers, investigate complex issues across the Android and Linux software stack, and help define technical requirements for customer-premises equipment and set-top box platforms.
The ideal candidate combines deep Android platform and kernel-level engineering experience with systematic root-cause analysis, device internals knowledge and the ability to guide technical discussions with manufacturers.
Responsibilities
Investigate and resolve complex device-level WiFi and connectivity issues affecting CPE and STB platforms.
Analyze problems across the Android framework, Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL), wpa_supplicant, Linux drivers and device firmware.
Read, investigate and modify Android platform, kernel or driver code to identify and address underlying defects.
Correlate system events using ADB, logcat, kernel logs, dumpsys and Linux diagnostic tools.
Distinguish software symptoms from root causes involving chipsets, drivers, firmware and hardware dependencies.
Perform technical analysis of WiFi behavior, connectivity failures and device performance.
Support device testing, debugging and technical evaluation of hardware and software platforms.
Develop technical requirements, defect reports and engineering documentation for equipment manufacturers.
Collaborate with international vendors to investigate defects, evaluate solutions and improve device reliability.
Provide technical guidance and share platform expertise with the internal engineering team.
Contribute to architectural decisions and technical evaluations for future CPE and STB devices.
Required Skills
At least five years of hands-on Android platform or kernel-level engineering experience involving embedded devices such as CPE or STB systems.
Practical experience reading and modifying Android framework, HAL, Linux kernel or device driver code.
Strong understanding of Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and embedded Android architecture.
Ability to trace and isolate root causes across the Android framework, HAL, wpa_supplicant, driver and firmware layers.
Advanced log analysis using ADB, logcat, kernel logs, dumpsys and Linux diagnostic tools.
Deep understanding of device internals, including chipsets, drivers, System-on-Chip platforms and hardware-software dependencies.
Experience investigating complex connectivity or device behavior issues at platform level.
Ability to produce clear technical requirements, defect reports and engineering documentation.
Experience collaborating with international hardware or software vendors.
Polish language proficiency at B2 level or higher.
English language proficiency at C1/C2 level.
Ability to meet the applicable UoP office attendance or B2B laboratory visit requirements.
